Cynthia (Cindy) Mattern, a USDF Bronze Medalist, has over 25 years of experience teaching riders and training horses in both Dressage and Hunt Seat. She grew up riding with the Oley Valley Combined Training Club members, and now her passion is Dressage. Cindy stays current with Dressage training techniques and skills by lessoning with Suzanne vanCuyk who was on the Dutch Dressage Olympic Team with Anky van Grunsven in the 1990’s. She has also trained/audited with Scott Hassler, Reiner Klimke, Michael Klimke, Karl Mikolka, and numerous others.

Cindy has attended young horse training clinics at Hilltop Farm in Maryland and numerous training and judging sessions with the USDF. Several of her students have won top awards at local dressage shows, including year end awards, and have qualified at the national level. Cindy has competed in the Northeast and traveled to Florida with her Dutch Warmblood mare for four (4) winters, showing her extensively.

More importantly, Cindy loves horses and loves to share her knowledge of training horses with her students. Cindy's methods of teaching and training create well balanced, supple, and educated horses and riders. She uses clear communication and utilizes the pyramid for classical training. Her gift is that she is able to quickly analyze each horse and rider pair and assess their individual needs to help them advance their "riding to the next level." Her patience and true desire to teach makes her an excellent instructor for both the serious dressage student, as well as those who just want to learn for fun!

For the winter, you may want to lesson and ride in an indoor arena. Cindy accepts trailer-ins at three (3) barns in the Dillsburg, Pennsylvania area, plus she will travel to you. Call 717-796-0755 or kroniek1@aol.com References available.
